Tax Compliance & Reporting Manager - Investments

POSITION SUMMARY


We are a global financial institution seeking an experienced tax professional to assume the responsibilities for managing our investment tax process ensuring our accounting for income taxes and federal income tax compliance for investments are operating effectively and efficiently. The successful candidate will join a team of tax professionals who are responsible for all tax accounting and compliance for the company.


RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Partner with investment accounting team to manage overall investment strategy, including maintenance and controls over investment management system (ePAM)

  • Manage tax elections and ensure investment system tax functionality is being fully utilized

  • Assist in developing, documenting and maintaining investment tax accounting methods

  • Work with tax planning team to research, document and implement tax planning strategies related to investments

  • Understand and work with complex investment transactions and report the impacts of such transactions for GAAP, Statutory and Tax accounting purposes

  • Develop expertise and participate in cross training of other members of the Tax Department

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • BA/BS in Accounting

  • 5-7 years of experience in US taxation in a large corporate tax department or Big 4/International accounting firm

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to identify tax technical issues, research, analyze and document conclusions or recommendations

  • Ability to read, interpret and summarize technical standards, tax and legal documents

  • Demonstrated ability to solve technical tax or accounting issues in a fast-paced environment and to communicate tax or accounting requirements effectively to a non-technical audience

  • Experience with Tax, GAAP and STAT accounting principles

  • Expertise with Excel, Word and PowerPoint software


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • CPA, MBA or Masters in Tax with accounting experience (or equivalent)

  • Solid understanding of US taxation of investments

  • Experience with process improvement, change management and optimization of investment tax processes

  • Experience with ONESOURCE Tax Provision (OTP) and ONESOURCE Income Tax Software

  • Broad knowledge of individual US life, health insurance and mortgage insurance products

  • Ability to meet deliverables independently and as a team player within time constraints

  • Ability to exhibit flexibility, creativity and initiative in providing solutions

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
