We currently have an assignment for a Roadway Construction Inspector with one of our top clients.? Our client is a full-service consulting firm offering a wide array of Program and Construction Management, Project Controls and Engineering services. ?This position is located in Richmond, VA.

Job Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Roadway Construction Inspector is to independently plan, coordinate, inspect and oversee project inspection activities of roadway, structure and?bridge, and maintenance projects. ?The Roadway Construction Inspector will be responsible for ensuring contractors compliance through reviewing, interpreting and enforcing of plans and contract documents for efficient and timely inspection of the contractor?s work, and shall:

  • Oversee, direct and review the work of Inspectors and Inspector Trainees

  • Maintain project records and documentation using the VDOT Materials Book & project management software which include VDOT Site Manager

  • Apply knowledge and experience towards the inspection of roadways using VDOT standards, specifications and procedures

  • Complete testing of materials using VDOT testing procedures

  • Apply Best Management Practices (BMP) to environmental inspection activities using DEQ standards and specifications

  • Apply Best Management Practices (BMP) to safety activities

  • Communicate with various stake-holders including Localities and VDOT

Specific qualifications for a Roadway Construction Inspector role include:

  • 5+ years of experience in roadway construction inspection and materials testing

  • Must be current with the following certifications:?

  • ACI?Guardrail Installation (GRIT) - VDOT

  • Asphalt Levels I and II - VDOT

  • Intermediate Work Zone - VDOT

  • Pavement Marking - VDOT

  • SWM Inspector - DEQ

  • ESC Inspector - DEQ

  • Soils and Aggregate - VDOT

  • Hydraulic Cement Concrete Field - VDOT

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED

  • Experience operating computer equipment, software programs and field testing equipment

  • Must have a valid driver?s license and acceptable driving record

  • Able to pass a criminal background check

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
